Life With Jeeves, by P.G. Wodehouse (of course)
As I dug further into the horror of “2666,” I began to reread for the umpteenth time this fat collection of Jeeves stories. Ultimately I gave up on the Bolanos and stuck with the Wodehouse.
Geniuses of two very different types!
Could Bolanos have written the following? I think not!
“It seems rummy that water should be so much wetter when you go into with your clothes on than when you’re just bathing, but take it from me that it is. I was only under about three seconds, I suppose, but I came up feeling like the bodies you read of in the paper which ‘had evidently been in the water several days.’ I felt clammy and bloated.”
What ho, what ho, what ho!
